in Beelitz heilstatten
2006 Exhibition", Beelitz, Germany
In a room, time of the past century stagnates. I made a passage in the room in order to let one face to its stories. The passage went through the room and through its window in order to breath the air of present from a forest.
A linoleum covered floor could be seen as a document of foot prints from former visitors. I placed the linoleum on the wall as an action to open a book. The floor under the linoleum had red and black crusts like painful scabs. I wiped the floor with olive oil as a treatment.
Cracks and flakes of its wall could be telling its stories of the room.
Beelitz-Heilstatten was set up as tuberculosis sanatoriums and hospitals by the Landeseversicherunstalt LVA Berlin, the national workers assurance company, placed south of potsdam in the midst of the Beelitz forest between 1898 and 1930. The buildings have gone through the time like the World War and occupied by Soviet. They have been inactive and falling slightly.
