"End exam exhibition in Gerrit Rietveld Academie"
'where one is' determines 'what one sees'. 'who one is' determines 'what one will see' and 'where one will be'.
This work was shown in an exhibition Graduation show in Gerrit Rietveld Academie.
From the 1st floor window of the room where I was exhibiting in, I was able to see the pupils of the British school carrying out their daily activities in the play ground. The idea of this work was to make a 3D sketch of this view on a table. I made a maquette of the playground and all its objects. During the exhibition, I was by the table watching the children playing. When the children moved things around e.g a bench, I would then track this movement on my maquette. In this way, the viewer was able to see what I was watching. I wanted to capture the changing 'present' as a metaphor for the memory of the space as well as a meeting point between my personal perspective and those of passing viewers.
In this way the 'Live Maquette' with which I was performing became a monument to each person held at each present moment, rooted in a particular place and its view.
